NYE Collectible Token/Pendant by Jennifer Kahn

Vermont artist Jennifer Kahn has been making jewelry for over a decade. Her designs fuse old and new, industrial and natural, urban and ethnic. She graduated from UVM with a BA in Art and English in 2001. Since then, she has been apprenticed to renowned jewelry artist Celie Fago, from whom she’s learned PMC (Precious Metal Clay) and metalsmithing. Jen has sold her work at craft shows, in galleries and has been featured in exhibits across the US, UK, and Japan. Her work has been in top jewelry magazines and several books; she most recently wrote a chapter for the popular book calledStitched Jewels“; her earrings are the cover design.

Ever since Jen attended her first Phish show, she has been taken by the community, the art and most of all, the music. As a maker of little things, she loves the merit badge concept and it inspired her to create a token. Since she works in metal and is excited for the New Years Run in NYC, a token, reminiscent of subway tokens, was an appealing idea. It’s made of pure silver and is the size of a quarter. Each one is hand made by Jen.

It comes in an archival coin display holder for $25, or as a pendant on black waxed cotton cord (16″ or 18″) with sterling ends and a sterling lobster clasp for $35. Or on a sterling chain for $45. In addition to the commemorative fish and apple, and “NYE, NYC, MSG”, all three show dates are inscribed among the lines on the edge. A limited edition of only 100 tokens will be made to order. This is definitely a collector’s item!

Jen is donating a portion of every sale to the Mockingbird Foundation because as important as art is to her, she couldn’t live without the music and she wants that to be true for future generations.

You can see more of Jen’s work on her website: www.jenniferkahnjewelry.com and purchase from her Etsy shop: www.jenkahn.etsy.com. You can also find her selling in Burlington, VT at various Holiday craft shows and on display at Trinket (28 Church St.) anytime.

Missing from Atlantic City – PLEASE READ

Friend of PhanArt and amazing friend Julie Parker lost a one-of-a-kind hoodie this weekend. Made by CrazyRedBeard Jonathan Blake, this hoodie was with her on 10/29 and was taken from her seat in section 106 during the show.  Without Julie, PhanArt would not have made it to print, you may not have known about it because she was the most amazing Phan in charge of Marketing, and if you’ve met her, well, you know how awesome she is.

If anyone has seen this, or knows who picked it up, PLEASE contact pete at phanart AT gmail.com.

A message from Julie:

So, I love peacocks – a family friend who was like a grandmother to me and whose house I spent alot of time in as a girl growing up had pictures and artwork of them as well as actual peacock feathers in her house and she also had them as pets. They represent happy childhood memories for me, ya know?

So when Jon (CrazyredBeard) started doing commissions on flat brims I asked him if he’d do a hoodie for me – his own artistic interpretation of peacock feathers. So he did and I LOVE that hoodie. I’m seriously heartbroken that it’s gone because it’s very sentimental to me and because it’s one of a kind.

Mock Show venue change

As you may have heard on the news recently, an investigation by county and state officials revealed that our original location – The EPIC Hotel – had recently installed a water filter powerful enough to remove chlorine from its city-supplied water – a move that unfortunately encouraged unbeknownst bacterial growth. Scientists have discovered an outbreak of a rare pneumonia causing bacteria known as Legionnaire’s Disease has been seemingly linked to the Epic Hotel.

While we believe that the hotel will re-open before Mock Show, our first and foremost concern is the safety and well being of our attendees and exhibitors. We acted immediately to procure a new location to assure the satisfaction of our guests.

Subsequently please note that the Mock Show will now take place at the Hyatt Regency Miami.

Hyatt Regency Miami
400 Southeast 2nd Avenue
Miami, FL 33131

Times and Date will remain the same.

The Mock Show will be held in the Jasmine and Hibiscus ballrooms located on the Terrace Level of the Hyatt Regency Miami hotel.

There is a complimentary tram located in the Hyatt Regency that will get you to the American Airlines Arena, or, you if you want to soak in that beautiful Florida sun, you are still within walking distance of the venue.

We have taken great strides to minimize the inconvience to all Mock Show patrons. If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at info@amockshow.com.
