Driver (for Ryan) from Joseeen

il_570xN.774609214_s9peDuring Summer Tour 2013, a phan who was trying to get the band to play the song “Driver” in honor of his brother Ryan who had recently passed made an effort by handing out these cards at shows. Word eventually got to the band, who happily complied on 8/3/13.

Josean Rivera has designed a watercolor drawing of the cards that were used in this effort. The original watercolor has been sent to his family, who will receive a portion of all sales of this print. An additional portion of sales will be donated to The Mockingbird Foundation

This art is printed on cardstock and measures 6″x8″ in a limited edition of 50, with each print signed by the artist. You can buy them via Etsy.

“Beautiful Squalor” Art Show with Max Kauffman and Jesse Reno, June 13, Asbury Park, NJ

‘Beautiful Squalor’, a two person art show featuring Max Kauffman and Jesse Reno will be held on June 13 at Parlor Gallery, 717 Cookman Avenue, Asbury Park, New Jersey.

kauffman

‘Beautiful Squalor’ is a collection of new work continuing Kauffman’s exploration of the human condition. These new paintings continue his reflections on the duality of existence, further splintering conscious and unconscious mark making with pieces leaning towards gesture and abstraction coupled with other pieces rendered exactly on a folk drawing manner.

Both of these extremes show the limits of control and surrender, the struggle we partake in day after day, since the dawn of civilization. We strive for sanctuary from the chaos we create, even as we grow further dependent on it.

New Work from Eelus “Beyond the Red Curtain”, “Firestarter”

Eelus has two new pieces of work to debut. A new painting titled “Beyond the Red Curtain”, painted for the Cut-It-Out stencil show that opened at Urban Nation Berlin recently. You can see the full details for my piece HERE and you can also read the story behind the process in his journal.

Back in 2010 Eelus released a print called “Firestarter” as part of his Paradise Lost show at Brooklynite Gallery in New York. 10 were printed without the fire reflecting in the young chaps spectacles, the idea being to paint something different in there instead and release them as a hand finished edition. These ‘lost’ prints became buried under mountains of other curiosities and were subsequently forgotten about. Lost orphans of the print world, until they were re-discovered recently and finally finished. Better late than never.firestarter

This tiny edition of just 10 has sold out but you can find more of Eelus’ art at the Art Republic website.
