From PhanArtist Ryan Jerzy, featured in PhanArt: The Art of the Fans of Phish, comes this great 2 color lino block print. It measures 13 x 26″, is handpressed and is from an edition size of 75. Look for him at Telluride and Deer Creek! Prints are $25 on lot. If any are left over, look for an update here!
New PhanArtist Lizzy Layne has made some posters for Telluride that evoke a familiar image, without all that black and white. This edition of 75 prints is signed and numbered. The original hand illustrated prints are a 4 color silkscreen measure 15″ x 22″ and are printed on white stonehenge paper. (see more info below)
Tellurage 2010
Lizzy will be selling the posters on site at Telluride for $20. She will have some prints available here on the PhanArt blog before and after the shows, until supplies run out. The prints cost $30 including shipping and handling. You can order at paypal.com – send money to lizzylayne@gmail.com
Lizzy’s inspiration for the poster, from the artist herself: “I wanted to do a fun and modern version of the infamous Trey and Page Telluride ’88 photo. A throwback image with a bright color scheme inspired by the 1980’s ski culture that would have been flourishing during that era.” Lizzy had previously done was for Festival 8, a vintage horror movie poster style featuring the Big Black Furry Creature From Mars.
Big Black Furry
For Lizzy, as an artist, her skills are emphasized in printmaking, painting, graphic design and illustration. She noted, “with the Festival 8 poster, I put those trades towards Phish for the first time. I have been a fan and seeing shows for a long time now and meshing Phish and my art just felt like the natural thing to do. I was very pleased with the outcome of this poster and plan on making many more creations in the future. Hmm….Vegas, perhaps?”
Lizzy has agreed to donate a few posters to PhanArt for future auction for Mockingbird Foundation.
Hi all, and happy pre second leg of summer tour! Cant wait to hit the road next week and head out west for some epic venues. These will be my last releases for this summer, and Im very excited about each.
I was asked by Widespread Panic to create a piece for their Knoxville, TN shows that are just wrapping up tonight. The inspirationis the theatre itself with its elegant and ornate decorations and absolutely stunning ceiling medallion. These are 6 color linoleum block prints on Canson Edition paper stock. Photos dont do this one justice, they almost glow from the intense blues against the earth tones. I have a small allotment from the edition of 375 and they will be available on my website, www.masthaystudios.com, Thursday July 29 at 12 noon EST.
Finally, my last installment for the second leg of summer tour, what I am affectionately calling “Giant Alpine Valley Horns“. This is also a 6 color linoleum block print but is on Rives Heavyweight paper stock, edition of 75. Imagery is fairly self explanatory, you can almost hear the “Ricola-a-a-a” or the wonderful theme to the Cliffhangers Price is Right game in the background. These also will be available at www.masthaystudios.comThursday July 29 at 12 noon EST.
Merit badges are all the rage these days, and the inevitable fan designs are here for second tour. Fan ‘Whysnow‘ will have these badges for sale in Telluride, and Alpine Valley if supplies last. They are 1 for $3 and 2 for $5. Each badge is 1.5 inches in diameter and they are limited to an edition size of 300. Whysnow has donated a couple of badges for future auctions for Mockingbird Foundation.
At Telluride look for Whysnow wearing a yellow Sleeping Monkey shirt!!!!

Greetings from Masthay Studios! Sorry for the lack of witty banter this week, all the creative juices are being put towards prints at the moment.
Anyway, here is the second release for the second leg, Telluride! Each linoleum blockprint consists of 5 colors including a metallic copper on the frame and plaque surround the text. Edition size is 75 prints and will go on sale this Friday, July 23, 2010 at 12 noon EST.
As always feel free to email me at info@masthaystudios.com with any questions, concerns, comments, etc.
The show will hang all of August at Vintage Berkeley, a really sweet gallery/wine shop, just under one mile from The Greek Theater, in the “Gourmet Grotto“, Berkeley’s restaurant district. The opening reception will be Friday afternoon, August 7th, from 12-2pm, and the vino will be flowin’.
Ryan Kerrigan says of Greek Art at Vintage Berkeley: “I’ve shown my work there three times in the past six years, usually solo (although Kerrigan has done an art show with his sister Kelly Anona Kerrigan at Vintage), this will be first time with a group. We have eleven artists for this one this show will focus solely on art related to the August Greek Phish run, and each artist will be showing only their piece related to this run.”
If you are going to the Greek, get yourself to Vintage Berkeley on August 7th from 12-2pm. A short walk for some great art and wine in an area known for its food, you can’t ask for a better pre-show activity!

Prints didn’t always sell out, but these did. And when they are going for $50 a piece (via expressobeans.com) and the cost was potentially under $1, you gotta stand back and applaud whoever came up with this idea. Here’s to hoping it continues.
