Review of 2009 and Our Goal for 2010

Since February of 2009 when the launch part for PhanArt: The Art of the Fans of Phish took place at Revolution Hall in Troy, NY, a grand total of $1314.24 has been raised through sales of the book PhanArt: The Art of the Fans of Phish, donations made by PhanArtists, sales online of donated items, as well as auctions and donations made via the PhanArt blog. We are overwhelmed and impressed by this amount of money generated and are incredibly grateful to the Phish community for their support of the Mockingbird Foundation and music education, as well as the support for PhanArt and the effort to archive the art of the fans of Phish.

That being said, we would like to make the goal for this year to round out the total to $5000 by the end of 2010. $5000 is the amount of a FULL grant given to a school or organization by the Mockingbird Foundation for music education, and it is definitely within our reach. That means we look to donate a total of $3685.76 over the course of this year. We already have dozens of artists taking advantage of the PhanArt Blog and donating to Mockingbird through those means, and as their art is purchased and auctions are held, donations are accrued and sent directly to The Mockingbird Foundation. With your help, we can make the PhanArt Blog a great success and independent fundraiser for the Mockingbird Foundation.

Spread the word to your friends and phriends, buy items from PhanArt and PhanArtists, and keep your eye out for new offers and deals all the time on great lot art from PhanArt!  Stay updated on random deals via Twitter and on our Facebook Page and Group

Happy New Year and here’s to a prosperous 2010!

Phan Food final call for recipes!

Phan Food, the cookbook for fans on the road and at home is nearly done collecting recipes from fans for the first edition of the cookbook to be published later this year.  Included in the cookbook are recipes for appetizers, sandwiches, desserts, entrees, snacks, drinks, and yes, brownies and burritos.  These meals can be made in your own kitchen, or prepared on lot while on tour with any band!

The submission period will end January 31st, so if you want to have your recipe included in the first edition of this fantastic cookbook, go to phanfood.com and submit your recipe!  It only takes 5 minutes!!!!!

We are in great need to recipes for drinks, as well as anything vegetarian and vegan.  If you have anything to fit those categories, or anything else for the cookbook, please submit them soon.

Included in Phan Food will be drawings and designs by Drew Suto, art director for Surrender to the Flow phanzine, and Jim Pollock, renowned Phish poster artists.

Aprons will be available for sale with designs by PhanArtists later this year when the cookbook is on sale.  We anticipate that Phan Food will be on sale sometime in September.

Phan Food is wholly not-for-profit, with all net profits being distributed to the food banks in the towns that Phish plays in each tour.

Donations from the Artists featured on the PhanArt Blog to The Mockingbird Foundation

The purpose of the PhanArt Blog is not only to showcase the newest lot art and to provide a forum for phans and artists alike to sell their wares free of charge, it is also a venue to raise money for The Mockingbird Foundation, which raises funds for music education for children nationwide.

The first few months of the PhanArt Blog have been a great success, and we are happy to share with you the donations artists that have taken part in the site have made to The Mockingbird Foundation and/or PhanArt for future fundraising for The Mockingbird Foundation.

Since this is the first time we are sharing with the Phish public the amount each artist has donated as a result of taking part in the blog, and in the holiday spirit, we at PhanArt have offered to MATCH all monetary donations made by the artists.

Indoor Lot at the OnCenter Before 11/22 Syracuse Show – Free for Vendors and Phans!

syracuse-orange-mascotOtto Owns Phish Lot, rumored to sit in with Phish

Some very intelligent folks who rune the OnCenter Complex in Syracuse have come up with a great idea: an indoor lot scene that is free for phans to take part in, selling their lot goods inside, away from the cold Syracuse winter (it comes early, trust me)

Inside the OnCenter from 9am-730pm will be vendors such as SoundGarden (Cuse’s own great record store), Henna tattoo Artists, Massage Therapist, Tarot Card readers, (beer) Belly Dancers (10 heady points if you know that song reference) and many book vendors.

Fans can vend too!  This is your pre-show too!  It is FREE for you to take part! So if you have something to sell, whether it be clothing, art, or something else. PhanArt will be there selling the book, shirts, stickers and posters, as well as displaying some of the latest fan-art from 8! To register, all you need is to contact Michelle at the OnCenter at 315-435-8000 to register and you are in! No Cost! No Fee! No Fee? Maybe a Fee during the Phish show, that would be heady. Been since 7/29/03 since I caught one.

But I digress…..

Phish fans can come to the OnCenter, check out the scene inside, and listen to some local bands, including The Lost Marbles, Soul Risin‘, and Dark Hollow (on stage from 2-6pm – this will be an AWESOME pre-show)

It’s gonna be cold, cold, cold, cold in the ‘cuse, so take advantage of this indoor, warm environment to sell your wares and make some money for tour!

Note: Glass vendors- sorry, no dice on this. I checked with them and they just aren’t cool like that. Sorry, but they just wouldn’t say yes.

Beyond the glass thing, this is a PhanArt Recommended, PhanArt Approved event! (PRPA)
