Franky Scaglione’s ‘Rex Membra’ Radiohead print

The Denver days have been full of sun, March Madness is setting in, and I can feel summer tour knocking at the door… In the meantime, I wanted to share my latest work, a breakout from the Phish prints… a limited edition screen print run for Radiohead! I recognize that most of you are on the mailing list because you are interested in the Phish prints, but I figure there is enough spill-over into the Radiohead fan base and loyal art supporters… so, please have a look!

Rex Membra

The print commemorates Radiohead’s first Colorado performance in nearly nine years, one special evening at the intimate 1stBank Center in Broomfield. Rex Membra (latin for king of limbs) is my interpretation of the sovereign timber… a translation from the king of dinosaurs. Lauding the big-bellied oak tree of the Savernake Forest (in Wiltshire, which the album was named after), I played with the annual rings and tied-in the rex-rooted limbs.

Rex Membra is a LE screen print run of 100 on archival 100lb Cougar opaque white paper (24″ x 18″), all signed and numbered. Price is $35 including shipping/handling, reinforced postertube, etc. to anywhere in the US/Canada. And, as always, all subscribers (who have purchased at least four consecutive prints) will be receiving free shipping (and of course, you’ll receive the same number print that you’ve gotten in the past); just remind me when you send payment. For anyone that would like to become a subscriber, I am happy to reserve the same print number for you (as long as it’s still available) and guarantee you free shipping for every print after four purchased. Setlist Tees, a Unique Concert T-shirt Combo

Ryan Stanley had a dream. His dream was that he could wear a T-Shirt that represented memories of his favorite concerts, the shows he’s been to and shows he wishes he’d been to. Ryan has a friend named Rick, a fellow music enthusiast who owns his own graphic design company. One night in October of 2010 the two friends got together over several cold beers at a local watering hole and put the seeds in the ground for what would eventually become SetListTees.com. The shirts below are a small sampling of what they have designed and made for sale on their site.

7/2/94 – Garden State Arts Center

One of our more popular shirts with the old school cassette on the front. This was also a special show for me, as it was the second of nine shows that I went to that summer and it was just the beginning of my first ‘Tour’.

7/8/94 – Great Woods

Part of that same tour and the last time that Phish played Gamehenge. What a summer. The design is the date surrounded by trees which is in reference to Great Woods, but may also be considered the forest of Gamehenge

12/2/09 – Madison Square Garden

First show at MSG in 3.0 – Also the first show at MSG for Phans who were too young to see them previously in NYC. There’s no place like the Garden. The design is literally a Square Garden with the date growing out of it.

9/2/11 – Dick’s Sporting Goods Park

The ‘S’ show! I remember listening to this show from the comfort of my Couch Tour and the lightbulb going off about 3 songs in that they were all S songs and really looking forward to the rest of the show to see if they’d pull the whole thing off. We’ve actually got 3 versions of this shirt. The one pictured is based off of the Superman logo because the show was So Super!!

10/20/10 – Guyutica

Considered by many to be a highlight of 2010 (which is saying a lot) – Personally this is one of my absolute favorite designs that we have.

6/22/94 – Veterans Memorial Auditorium

The second set from this show is literally one of my all time favorite sets. It takes place in Columbus OH – Hence the Columbus on the front of the shirt.

Pick up these shirts and suggest others at SetListTees.com and find them on the web at Facebook.com/SetListTees,

AJ Masthay Phish Summer Tour Leg 1 Subscription info

From AJ Masthay and on-sale this Friday, March 9th at 12 noon EST…

God, it seems like New Years was ages ago… but we finally have our dates and I’m happy to announce Masthay Studios will once again be offering up a limited number of subscriptions for the first leg of Summer 2012!  Two subscription options will be available, Regular andEnhanced, both of which will be available this Friday, March 9th at 12 noon EST on the Subscription Page ofMasthaystudios.com.

The regular subscription entitles the purchaser to every print created by Masthay Studios for the first leg of Summer 2012. This is absolutely the best way to ensure you receive those “high demand” prints, especially considering some prints may be exclusively available at the venue or associated poster shows.
Cost of the regular subscription is $300 including insured shipping.

The Enhanced subscription gives you the opportunity to choose two prints/panels from the sub to be “given the treatment”. The chosen prints will have their borders painstakingly enhanced with full color drawings by the artist, each a one-of-a-kind work of art. If there was a Ferrari of the print world, these would be it. Check out the Enhanced Print Gallery on our Flickr page to see examples of previously enhanced prints.
Cost of the enhanced subscription is $600 including insured shipping.

Subscription details:

  • Each subscription will include matching numbers and will be sent in one shipment once all prints are completed.
  • A minimum of 10 prints will be included in each sub. Within the 10 will be at least one triptych and one set of mini-prints. If time allows and additional prints for the 1st leg of summer 2012 are created, they will automatically be included in the sub.
  • 1st Leg subs will only include prints associated with the 1st leg of summer tour. Any prints for other bands or organizations created during that time will not be included.
  • Enhanced subscriptions take a significant amount of time to complete. Please allow for additional time to complete these enhancements before the subscription will ship.
  • Enhanced sub holders will be given the option to have all three panels of the triptych enhanced at an additional cost. Note – this additional cost covers only the three panels of the triptych, not the triptych in addition to two other prints.

Upcoming Gallery Show at the Windsor Art Center

For those of you in the northeast, join me and my fellow Connecticut printmakers at the opening reception of the 1st Annual Connecticut Printmakers Invitational on Saturday, March 17th from 5-7pm. The show itself features 12 printmakers all using different print techniques. Details on the show including gallery info, artist’s talks and printmaking demos can be found online at windsorartcenter.org/visual.

As always, thank you for supporting the work of Masthay Studios. Please don’t hesitate to contact us atinfo@masthaystudios.com with any questions or comments and we’ll see you this summer!
